Annual Banquet 2009

The 60th Anniversary Banquet for the
Ashtabula Soil and Water Conservation District
will be held Thursday, November 5th at the
Williamsfield Community Center
beginning at 7:15 pm.

Voting for election of one Supervisor will begin
at 7:15 pm until 8:00 pm

Ashtabula County SWCD will be electing one supervisor on November 5, 2009. If you cannot attend the Annual Meeting, below  find out who is eligible and how to vote by absentia.

OHIO SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION COMMISSION ELECTION LEGAL NOTICE 

The Ohio Soil and Water Conservation Commission will have an election of Supervisors of the Ashtabula Soil and Water Conservation District to be held in accordance with Chapter 1515 of the Ohio Revised Code.

Residents or landowners, firms, and corporations that own land or occupy land in Ashtabula County and are 18 years of age and older may vote for Supervisor. A non-resident landowner, firm or corporation must provide an affidavit of eligibility, which includes designation of a voting representative, prior to casting a ballot (available on the District’s website.)  

There are three ways an eligible voter can cast a ballot:  

(1) at the annual meeting if you are attending, which will take place November 5, 2009. Voting will take place between 7:15 pm until 8:00pm 

 (2) At the Ashtabula County SWCD office from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on November 5, 2009. 

 (3) Vote absentee by requesting the proper forms. The absentee request forms are posted on our website http://www.ashtabulaswcd.org/. Requested ballots must be returned to the District office no later than 2:30 p.m. on November 5, 2009, at the following address: Ashtabula County Soil and Water Conservation District, 39 Wall Street, Jefferson, OH 44047 phone number: 440-576-4946. 

One (1) Supervisor will be elected. Nominees are:  Wendall Obernyer  

2010 Candidates 

Wendall Obernyer  has lived at Lovedale Farms established in 1949, in Jefferson Township all his life.  The 115 acre farm was home to the Registered Brown Swiss dairy herd until 1989.  Beef cattle are being raised since with hay being the main crop.  Conservation practices include– grass waterways and installation of drainage tile; one acre pond with gravity water line to barn for watering cattle; gravity flow animal waste system; rotational pastures with fencing and 1/4 acre pond with gravity fed water supply.   Wendell and his wife Joanne are parents to four children-Dakota, Courtney, Christine, Greg and have three grandchildren.  Wendell is completing his 30th year of service with the US Postal Service; is a member of St Joseph Church in Jefferson; a member of Jefferson Grange; was Jefferson Township Zoning Inspector; served on Jefferson Township Zoning Board; and presently serving Jefferson Township on the Zoning Board of  Appeals.

Don Eyring and Elaine Eyring have been married 45 years and reside in Andover Township. They have 4 grown children.  Don has worked in community banking for 36 years, last 18 with Andover Bank.  During the past ten years Don has built and maintained wetland mitigation sites in Ashtabula County. Don is a member of the Andover Public Library Board of Trustees serving since 1984.
